Call your doctor: Constipation after surgery is not uncommon, either from anesthesia or from narcotic pain medications. However, pain that is not relieved by the medications provided by the surgeon should be investigated promptly. Fiber, laxatives and enemas can all be useful to promote bowel movements after surgery but check with your doctor before doing anything.
