Pain and lump: The symptoms would be similar to what you had before the operation. Not all symptoms or even lumps are indicative of recurrence. See your surgeon for an exam, and possibly testing to make sure.

The "outie": Simply put, an outie belly button is one of the signs that there might be an umbilical hernia. Generally painless so ne real symptoms.

Bulge and pain: If the hernia has come back, it may look and feel similar to what you had before the first surgery. There will be a bulge at the belly button that may be painful. It usually gets bigger with straining of the abdominal muscles or lifting heavy objects. And usually you can push the hernia back into the abdomen when you lay on your back. A physician can examine you and let you know.
