How severe?: If the symptoms are mild and go away in a day or two and if you are otherwise healthy then probably not. However, if the pain is moderate to severe then i would recommend getting checked out. Group a strep is one of the causes of pharyngitis (as well as tonsillitis) and it would be important to know if this is the cause of the infection. This bacteria has the potential to cause other problems.
