What is the cause of a large hard lump in my calf muscle?

Injury or growth: This could be the result of injury or a tear to the muscle, muscle spasming (ie: charlie horse), a benign growth or tumor, or a much more serious problem such as a sarcoma (malignant cancer of the muscle). You need to see a doctor to check this out.

Many causes: Hi, Just like Dr. Lee informed you, there are many causes - even malignant tumors! Another couple considerations that are common are hematoma (these happen after trauma and even with minor or essentially NO trauma especially if you are on blood thinners) and IMPORTANTLY you must consider a possible DVT blood clot!! This condition can be life threatening! Seek medical attention immediately
