Several posibilities: This sounds superficially like nerve pain and could be due to herpes, but without a full history and exam no way to diagnose this. Please go and see a doctor. Make sure is nothing serious.

Pain and Insects: I have seen herpes zoster (shingles) present in this manner. A rash can follow days later.
