We can help.: As you know first-hand, hernia repair can be painful, yet people are usually pain-free within one month after surgery. Your persistent pain requires a return visit to your surgeon. The most common cause of pain 6 months after surgery is due to trauma to the nerves in the groin. This can be effectively treated by injecting the nerve(s).

Hernia pain: Persistent groin pain more than 6 weeks after hernia surgery may mean nerve entrapment. The ilioinguinal nerve is a sensory nerve and can be trapped by mechanical means or scar tissue. Injection by a pain specialist may relieve symptoms after one treatmemnt in most cases.

Recurrence or nerve: If a bulge is present it could be a recurrence of your hernia. If not nerve entrapment is a possibility. Either way please consult with the surgeon who repaired your hernia.
