Depends: There are many reason for cramps .Long periods of exercise or labor, particularly in hot weather, may lead to muscle cramps. Some medications and certain medical conditions also may cause muscle cramps. Overuse of a muscle, dehydration, muscle strain or simply holding a position for a prolonged period of time may result in a muscle cramp. Consult your doctor for severe discomfort.

Circulation : Circulation can be a cause. A visit to a podiatrist would be in order for an exam and possible circulation test
