Agree with doc.: This could be a serrious problem. Pet wwould be ok. May need help of pulmonologist or another doc to get a piece of tissue (biopsy) from the mass. Ask about side effects of biopsy. Do it soon.

Concerning: Given your cancer history, your doc is likely concerned this may be related. The other imaging tests (pet/mri) will confirm this and see if there is spread anywhere else in your body (staging). Your doc will also want a biopsy of the 2 cm mass so a pathologist can determine exactly what it is. This helps determine treatment. The questions/answers will come after all the tests are done.

Realize docs look for cancer by abnormal FDG on Pet/CT. do they note normal FDG area but abnormal mass/skeletal growths/breaks on the Cat portion?
