Uncommon: It is uncommon may be contracting scar tissue or keloid tissue formation, giving you 'cramp like' pain , check with your surgeon or may be unrelated to hernia repair which needs investigation.

Yes: The sensation should improve over time. If it does not, gets worse, or significantly limits your activities, you should see your surgeon for a follow up exam. Hope you feel better soon.
