A 27-year-old male asked:

I had a left inguinal hernia surgery (open repair) with mesh. i wanna know if spermatic cord is scarred into the mesh will it appear in mri scan?

Unlikely: You had an open hernia repair. You want to know if the spermatic cord can be visualized involving the hernia by mri. The hernia repair using mesh will be next to the spermatic cord. Mri may show approximation. If you are having pain then talk to your surgeon. You may have nerve entrapment you may have options to discuss. Physical therapy, weight reduction and pain specialists.

No it won't: You are concerned about patency of your vas deferens. Lumen of vas is normally closed all the time except for passage of sperm. This lumen can not be seen on mri. Best first step to find out if one or both vas is/are patent is by semenalysis. I personally share your concern about wisdom of hernia inguinal repairs with mesh in young men. Of course there will be cases where it is the best technique.
