Gold is softer: Usually the higher the gold content in a bridge the softer the metal. As a result, a gold metal occlusal is kinder to the opposing teeth.

Some perspective: I would be more concerned with the quality of the dentistry as determined by the skills and experience of the dentist and the laboratory technician than the specific metals or materials used in the restoration. Those factors will have more of an effect on the esthetics, health and longevity of the restorations and your teeth. If you trust your dentist, trust his\her advice.
