Minimally invasive: Minimally invasive surgery is the buzzword these days. Laparoscope is a tiny tube inserted to see & do things. Several small incisions (cuts) are made in belly to allow several scopes to be used to remove gallbladder. One scope includes a video camera to allow surgeon to see inside. Recovery is dramatically faster than traditional open surgery w/big slash under rib cage. Whole gallbladder is sent.
