The more, the better: 30 minutes 5 days a week is a good minimum. The more you do, the better it is for you.

Not straightforward: There is no one answer for all. While many would say that you should perform an exercise regimen at least three time a week that gets your heart rate above 120 for at least 20 minutes, that is not a "one size fits all recommendation" this will depend on your overall health, abilities, current weight and goals. Also one must consider benefits of exercises that maintain flexibility & range: yoga.
