I have severe back pain immediately after my hysterectomy. is this normal?

It can be: A hysterectomy is a major surgery and pain is expected after surgery. If it was done via an open incision (large incision) then it can be more painful. If done laparoscopically or robotically then much less pain is expected. Severe pain can be normal but many complications can happen after surgery such as infection and bleeding that can also cause this pain and you should call or see your doctor.
