Lots of myths: Much of what you'll read is non-science. Simple carbohydrates are the familiar sugars that tend to be sweet. Raisins and fruit juice are more acceptable politically that candy and high-calorie soda-pop because they contain some good extra nutrients & are less like to be overeaten, but the body processes the simple sugars in the same way. "turbinado" sugar is just sugar ground finer.
