Stage 2 HTN: 50 asks how long would pt with stage 2 HTN have till serious damage starts. Answer: Stage 2 ≥160 systolic. Damage can already be detected in most with Stage 2. Trial in which one group got placebo and other got chlortalidone (SHEP study) it was clear that congestive heart failure was less likely by 3 months. So you have a little time. Stoke,Heart Attack took about 1 yr to begin to see protection.
