Winter blues: Presuming it is not a clinical depression which requires medication, there are several ways to combat the winter doldrums. Certainly, stay active and keep healthy eating/sleeping habits. Consider "talk therapy" with a licensed therapist. Light boxes (available inexpensively on places like amazon) are another very effective and simple way to combat seasonal dips in mood.

Hibernation: "winter blues", also called seasonal affective disorder, are similar to what animals go through when they hibernate. Your winter blues may be a function of less daylight, so light therapy might help. However, winter blues can also be from intermittent depression, a thyroid problem or personal stress from work or intimate relationships. Seek an evaluation from a mental health professional.
