Food poisoning: Food poisoning can irritate the stomach lining . Try otc medicines such as famotidine(pepcid) or Omeprazole (prilosec) and an antacid (mylanta or maalox plus) . See your doctor if symptoms persist. Avoid spices, alcohol, coffee, tobacco and stress. Drink clear liquids for the next 24 hours, avoid eating regular food until you can tolerate regular liquids and soft bland foods
