Depends on severity: The labrum is the rim of cartilage around the hip socket. If a tear of the labrum is identified, the location and severity of the tear will determine whether the labrum can heal without surgery. I would recommend a consult with an orthopaedic surgeon who peforms hip arthroscopy to discuss your individual situation.

Rehabilitation: Every labral tear does not need surgery. In fact many people have labral tears and may not even know it. Typically if i see a patient with a labral tear i try rehab first in attempt to decrease symptoms. The tear may still be present, but if it does not cause symptoms then surgery is not indicated. We must treat the patient not necessarily the mri. www.kevinkaplanmd.com.

Doubful: If it's a complete tear, it will not heal without surgery.
