A member asked:

Stringy, slimey, slippery, shiny, dark brown thing in stool. i poked it with a qtip and it came apart with a little effort. this wasn't a worm was it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thoughts...: Can't say whether or not it's a worm, but the food you eat contributes to the stool's consistency and appearance. Foods with high insoluble fiber (celery) can cause stringy things in stool. Your doctor will probably consider doing some stool studies if concerned, especially if you've been travelling or living abroad. Best of luck!
