Yes: While fat within the intestinal wall is often thought of as a reliable marker for inflammatory bowel disease, studies have shown that in the absence of clinical or other radiologic evidence of inflammatory bowel disease, the presence of fat in the intestinal wall may represent a normal finding. There is also thought to be some association with obesity.
