Metoprolol: There are many agents that formularies or drug benefit managers will use to substitute for toprol. These will be generic beta-blocker drugs that inhibit the beta-adrenergic receptor to variable degrees. There are more that one beta receptor, and other effects, some dose dependent, that vary by agent selected. The specific equivalent is Metoprolol Succinate or metoprolol tartrate. No recall.
