benign: It means that you have a benign arrhythmia and that the drug wasn't prescribed for safety. It was prescribed to diminish your symptoms. If you have symptoms, take it 3x a day. When your symptoms abate, you can stop taking it.

On 12.5 mg metoprolol ER for benign PVCs and cardio wants me to add 30 mg diltiziam 2x a day. Im afraid to add this drug. Is it safe? My pvc burden as of December was 1.7% and I can tell its much lower now in the metoprolol. Need advice?
