The journey...: Normal healing from wisdom tooth extraction includes some ongoing bleeding, swelling, pain and soreness. Depending on the complexity and other risk factors your surgeon should be able to give you an idea of specifics relevant to your case. Expect things to improve progressively; if it's getting worse call your surgeon back. Follow your post surgical instructions closely. May you be well soon :).

You will be sore: Removal of an ankylosed tooth is tough. Ankylosis means that the tooth and bone of the jaw have become one. As the tooth is removed, some bone comes with it, this extra trauma (due to the ankylosis) will leave a legacy (swelling and some pain) for you for a couple of weeks. Take your meds, have it monitored, you should be fine. The rest is what type and size of suture material the surgeon used.

Stitches: It means that your tooth had to be surgically removed. The surgeon placed a packing material where the tooth was and placed one or more stitches. Pain and some swelling after this type of extraction is pretty common. Continue taking the medications you were prescribed. If swelling increases, call your surgeon.
