Wisdom teeth removal: It may take several days for your jaw to return to normal. Your surgeon should have given you post-op instructions on what to do to help your jaw feel better ( soft diet, no wide opening), and what not to do to make sure you don't cause more discomfort. If you have questions, Return to your dentist or surgeon and have this examined and explained to you.

Joint trauma: Dislocation of the jaw induced trauma to the joint. This can cause stiffness of the joint. The trauma from wisdom teeth removal can cause limited opening due to muscle tissue trauma. It may be difficult to distinguish between the two. Usually the stiffness should resolve. If it doesn't resolve in a couple of weeks, it should be evaluated by the surgeon.
