Maybe: Patients with pcos have Insulin resistance and are at high risk for developing diabetes. Treatment is weight reduction.

Associated: A review published in 2010 concluded that women with pcos had an elevated prevalence of Insulin resistance and type ii diabetes, even when controlling for body mass index (bmi). If overweight you could be at risk for gestational diabetes. So it is not a 100% link that if you have one you will get the other.

Possibly: Many patients with pcos have a problem called Insulin resistance. Insulin resistance also is the underlying problem for most people with type 2 diabetes. As a result many patients with pcos eventually develop diabetes. The way to prevent this (and treat pcos) is through weight loss, exercise, and medications that decrease Insulin resistance, such as metformin.
