Associated: A review published in 2010 concluded that women with pcos had an elevated prevalence of Insulin resistance and type ii diabetes, even when controlling for body mass index (bmi). Possibly: Many patients with pcos have a problem called Insulin resistance. Insulin resistance also is the underlying problem for most people with type 2 diabetes. As a result many patients with pcos eventually develop diabetes. The way to prevent this (and treat pcos) is through weight loss, exercise, and medications that decrease Insulin resistance, such as metformin.
