Topical vs. oral: There are hosts of different meds used in acne treatment - oral antibiotics by far are most commonly used. Topical antibiotic and non-antibiotic preps. Have it discussed with your doctor. Also, make sure to minimize or better off to eliminate make up and tampering with your lesions. Don't get frustrated, it may take a while and hard to get rid of them. Time is an important factor as well.

Acne treatment: Acne treatment should be tailored to the type you have- blackheads, red bumps, cysts. Although oral antibiotics are often used for acne, there is a trend to avoid long-term use because of potential for side effects (see http://www.Skin-vein.Com/blog/overuse-of-antibiotics-poses-a-serious-risk-to-public-health). Be kind to your skin: Treating adult acne can be a challenge. The first step is to be kind to your skin and clean it with a gentle cleanser. Harsh scrubbing and strong soaps can make acne worse. The second step is to try the over the counter treatments available, like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. The last step is to avoid picking at your acne as this can lead to scarring and inflammation.
