Some can, yes.: Many antibiotics can potentially reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. This is probably caused by antibiotics interfering with the absorption of the birth control pill. For this reason, it is advisable to avoid having sex while taking an antibiotic. Doing this should minimize your chances of getting pregnant while taking a birth control pill.
