About a week: Fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube generally within the first 24 hours after ovulation. The fertilized egg will take about 3 days to travel to the uterus. Implantation in the uterus occurs after another 72 hours. Implantation takes place around 7-9 days after ovulation and about a week after fertilization. These are approximate times. Spotting sometimes occurs with implantation.
