A member asked:

Can a person be admitted to the hospital for an anxiety disorder?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hospital for anxiety: The answer is 'yes'--sometimes, anxiety could be so pervasive and paralyzing that a patient is actually admitted to a hospital for control of symptoms with medication and discharge planning to return them to function. This is very rare now because we have good medicines for anxiety and because insurance companies don't like to pay for a hospital.
