Symptoms and testing: Allergic reactions to pecans manifest as hives, lip/face/tongue swelling, anaphylaxis, itching, vomiting/diarrhea or wheezing. Symptoms can range from mild to severe. If symptoms occurred within minutes to hours after ingestion/exposure to pecans this is highly suggestive of a reaction. An allergist can test for pecan allergy and develop a plan in case of accidental exposure.
