As long as you care: Retainers are given to orthodontic patients to minimize changes as years go by and the patient ages. Aging causes changes. Changes to "perfect teeth" likely will not end up better than perfect. We are aging beings that require maintenance to perform properly. Your teeth are no exception. Wear your retainer for life or as long as you care to keep your nice smile and bite.
