If i ask my doctor if he can do an open repair of my hernia, should he do an open repair?

If given the option: The method of hernia repair is often dependent on a surgeon's experience & training as well as what (s)he believes might be the best option for you. However, if your surgeon offers you both options, of course you may choose what you believe is the best option.

Open hernia: It is the patients choice and based on their preference as to what type of repair is completed. The surgeon should help facilitate the decision by providing information and data about the two different approaches.
