Just finished flagly for c diff; i now have symptoms of prostatitis and my dr wants me to take doxycycline 100mg twice a day and vancomycin (250mg/4xday). is this necessary to prevent c diff again?

Post C Diff Rx: Your doctor is undoubtedly attempting to eradicate the prostatitis, not to prevent another outbreak of c. Difficile. Many cases of prostatitis are non-symptomatic, but it sound like yours is, so it is best to eradicate the infection.

Yes...: You are very vulnerable to c. Diff recurrence by taking doxy this soon after treatment for c. Diff and will require prophylactic coverage with vanco to mitigate recurrence. Good luck!

Probiotics: Start a probiotic and take for a month following doxycycline. Hard to say whether or not to take vanco now but could to either way.
