Try tap water enema.: A tap water enema might be needed. However, perhaps the safest and best approach is to use sugar-free metamucil regularly to prevent constipation; it's not absorbed therefore nontoxic. Take it once, twice or 3 times daily...Whatever works best. It simply pulls water into the stool.

Ask your pharmacist: Ask your pharmacist to lead you to the stool softeners and a fiber laxative. Drink a lot of water, and eat plenty of foods that have plenty of natural fiber (fruits/vegetables). You may have an underlying condition like hypothyroidism that is worsening the problem. If you have had babies, it's possible that you have some vaginal wall relaxation that's making it worse, too. Check with your doctor.
