A member asked:

I still have a sharp pain in my arm 4 days after giving blood. what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Minor injury: There are a number of things that could cause this. A small nerve was pierced. A mechanical phlebitis ( inflammation of the vein), a hematoma. These will subside on their own. Warm compresses and medications like Motrin may help. Last and extremely rare is reflex sympathetic dystrophy. A debilitating neurologic ailment that can be caused by trauma. I wouldn't worry about it.
