Can experiencing the side effects of akathisia increase the chances that i will have it again?

Not necessarily: Many of my patients got akasthisia with one member of a particular drug class (like Abilify (aripiprazole) or haldol) but do not get it with another drug from either the same or a different class. Sometimes the addition of a second drug to help prevent akasthisia and other side effects will work (like Cogentin or benadryl). If you are not exposed to more drugs, the chances of akasthisia are pretty low.
