Become familiar: Congratulations to all who are going to the gym for the first time! just walking through the door on the first day is an accomplishment. Beyond that, i'd recommend a meeting with a personal trainer who can familiarize you with the facility and equipment. If you'd prefer to experiment for yourself, start slow and light. Become familiar with the movements (range of motion) before adding weight.
