Lots of differences: Clinically, they are quite distinct, with very different long-term courses and key symptom presentations. Pdd causes problems wih diminished social drive, impaired language, and odd behaviors. Adhd manifests with high activity levels, impulsivity, short attention but socially connected.

May be subtle: Depending on how young the child is they can look similar but in general the child with pdd will have developmental milestones that have not been met and this may not be the case with adhd. Both conditions can lead to hyperactivity and trouble with focus and concentration but for differrent reasons. A child with add can be difficult to spot at young age as hyperactivity is not present.

ADHD vs PDD: Adhd= attention disorder with or without hyperactivity, while pdd= pervasive developmental disorder most commonly associated with autism spectrum disorder or multiple areas of developmental delays. There are a number of people who have both disorders.

PDD is no longer a: Diagnosis in the dsm-v, having been replaced by autistic spectrum disorder. Adhd usually presents as hyperactive/impulsive type in preschoolers, since attention span at that age can typically be as short as 3-4 minutes. Each is a categorical diagnosis based on a defined pattern of (usually disruptive) behavior. 40-70% of children with ASD have adhd ; require multimodal treatment to address both.
