High heels: High heels adds stress to the ball of the foot which could cause bunions, hammertoes, stress fractures. It also shortens your calf muscle putting stress on the achilles tendon and cause plantar fasciitis. In other words it keeps us in business. :) the best thing you could do other than wearing lower heels, is to stretch the calves.

Ankle: Chronic use of high heels not only changes the 'configuration' of the spine but also can be the cause of tightening if the achilles' tendon. Ankle sprains can occur from twisting ankle from wearing the heel. Lateral ankle ligament injuries are common. Pain along the sole of the foot (plantar fascitis) can occur.
