A syndrome: Pcos is a syndrome in which there is a problem with ovulation and an excess of male hormones. The ovaries typically show lots of "cysts" which are follicles that fail to develop properly which is where the name comes from. Pcos is a metabolic disease and increases your risk for diabetes, heart disease , uterine cancer and other problems.
