When it happens: All inherited disorders are genetic, i.e., passed down from father or mother or a combination of the two. However, some genetic disorders occur spontaneously, in the early stages of the developing fetus, not present in either parent but a result of an error in incredibly complex process of combing ovum and sperm into a human being.
