Sciatic Attack: Often the irritation is due to repetitive motion of the large sciatica nerve in the posterior pelvic region where it crosses over boney structures. Compression or over-stretching is the common culprit. A large back wallet, frequent sitting on a hard surface and repetitve bouncing are contributing factors. Try to modify these situations if they apply. Ice/heat and anti-inflammatories can help.

Sciatica: Step one is usually a trial of nsaids, along with physical therapy. If the pain lasts more than 6 weeks, need to get MRI of the back to look for the cause.
