10 weeks: It depends on the severity of the injury. Sprains can be grade 1 (strained), 2 (partial tear), or 3 (complete disruption of the ligament). Grade 1 tears typically progresse at a rate of 8 to 10% per week for 10 to 12 weeks. A grade 3 tear can take up to a year. After a sprain, you should do ankle stengthening exercises to prevent re-injury from occurring when you return to full activity.

Severity.: Well, healing times vary. It's really dependent on the severity of the sprain. Mild, moderate and severe, you might say. You could be up and about with a mild sprain in a minute or two, although the "healing" could take several days. A severe sprain could take immobilization, surgery and months of post sprain care until totally "healed".
