Get it looked at: A black discoloration of the skin around the nail could be due to a variety of reasons including infection, trauma, or in rare instances a skin cancer. If you have not notice any significant improvement or if it has increased in size, you should having it looked at by your primary care physician who may want to refer you to a dermatologist or podiatrist for a biopsy.
