Consult Orthopedics: Snapping hip syndrome or coxa saltans can have have several causes. External causes are typically snapping of the itb (ilio-tibial band) over the greater trochanter (the outer part of the hip). Would recommend consult with an orthopaedic surgeon and probably a referral to physical therapy for treatment.
