L'Hermitte Sign: You describe a sign of shooting pain that coincides with pressure on the nerves. Usually this results with neck loading--yours doesn't, it's spontaneous. Spinal stenosis can be a result of disc herniation, arthritic spurs, or congenital defects that result in an abnormally small spinal canal. When associated with leg symptoms as well, this is concerning. You need to be seen by a spine specialist.
