Neuropathy: Numbness can be the result of a mechanical assault on nerves (ie pinched nerves in the neck or spine), or from systemic abnormalities such as B12 deficiency or thyroid dysfunction. Medications can contribute to the problem as well. It can even result from abnormalities of the brain itself. A number of tests exist to establish a cause and can be ordered by your primary care physician.
