Mucus & cramps...: Mucus occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. You're describing cramping with stools so mucus may also be produced due to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous rectal tumors. No bleeding, weight loss, fever, tenderness...Right? Call your doc to get checked esp. If these issues r present.

See your doctor: You may may an irritable bowel syndrome or something more. Would have it checked out with your doctor. He may feel you need to see a gastroenterologist or may be able to treat it him or herself.
