Fall, now SOB: Need evaluation asap to rule out fractures/infection/clots or emboli in lungs, etc. I would recommend er.

He should be seen.: He may have broken a rib, whcih makes it harder for him to take deep breaths. He may, as a result, have pneumonia. This theory may be completely off base, but an 86-yr-old with fever, loss of appetite and pain needs to be evaluated. Another important question is, "why did he fall in the first place?" whether dizzy, short of breath, having mini-strokes, or heart rhythm problems, all need assessment.
